“We wanted to keep the stairs open and clean in keeping with the rest of the project.” Hoyt and Collin Delano came up with the idea of a single HSS (hollow structural steel) stringer, and to give the stairs some warmth, wood treads.

When building their dream retreat in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Steve and Alexi Conine worked with architect Brad Hoyt to create a house that fused technology and design.

Range

Hoyt’s thinking — applying a contemporary structure to an existing one of an older style — isn’t new, although there are few, if any, purposeful examples of it to be seen in Jackson Hole. Such additions are called parabuildings: modern ticks on a postmodern host.

Mountain Living

Antiques dealer Liz Spradling envisioned a clean-lined canvas for her collection. Local  firm Hoyt/CTA Architects Engineers helped her design an open floor plan that places the dining room, kitchen, reading nook and great room within view of each other.

Lyle & Sharon worked with architect Brad Hoyt, of Harger & Hoyt, a division of CTA Architects Engineers, in Jackson. Unbelievably, the house was designed and built in 14 months. More unbelievable, especially given the tight schedule, is they both agree, “It turned out amazing, it was so easy.”
